1 Suggestion: The licensing service is not running – check if it is running:

  • Start / Services / find FlexNet Licensing 64 and check if it is running and set to start automatically in the properties.
  • If it is not running, change it to start automatically and then start it (administrator credentials may be required for Windows sys).

2 Suggestion: Try running the program as an administrator:

  • Program icon / right-click / run as administrator and log in with a user who should use the software.
  • If the problem is resolved, it means the user doesn’t have the necessary permissions to use the licensing service; in this case, add the required permissions. 

3 Suggestion: The program doesn’t start because the licensing file is missing – add the following file:

For the appropriate version, e.g., 2020, find the path:

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\CLM\LGS\<Product_Key>_2020.0.0.F

Replace the key number with the correct one, which can be found by logging into your Autodesk account at www.manage.autodesk.com.

If you don’t see the folder, make sure to show hidden folders in Windows Explorer options.

  • If the folder doesn’t exist, create it and create the LGS.data file.
  • If the LGS.data file exists in the found folder, delete it and create a new one.

How to create the LGS.data file:

Open Notepad as an administrator and enter the appropriate command based on the type of license you have:

  • _STANDALONE (if your license has a serial number)
  • _NETWORK
  • _USER (if your license is based on your Autodesk ID – subscription model, named account user – and doesn’t have a serial number)Save the file as LGS.data

    IMPORTANT! The file must not have a .txt extension

 

4 Suggestion: General installation error cleanup (for IT personnel):

  • Scan the system for adware and viruses using antivirus software.
  • Disable the antivirus.
  • Reset the system memory for installed products:

C:\Users<username>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\ADUT and delete all files.

C:\Users<username>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\WebService and delete the LoginState.xml file.

C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet and delete all files with names starting with adskflex.

IMPORTANT: If licensing errors occur for all Autodesk products, create a system backup and perform a clean reinstall. 

5 Suggestion: If all else fails, contact Autodesk for a license reset:
